How to Get Messenger in Yahoo Mail

Yahoo! Mail is a free, user-friendly email service that also has built-in access to your Yahoo! Messenger instant messaging account. Both mail and messenger use the same user names and passwords, making it simple to instant message your contacts directly through your email inbox. By using the newest version of Yahoo! Mail, you can multitask by emailing and instant messaging simultaneously.

Instructions

1. Sign into your Yahoo! Mail account, and make sure you are using the newest version of Yahoo! Mail. At the top left of your screen, directly below the Yahoo! Mail logo, you will see "Yahoo! Mail Classic" if you are using the traditional version of Yahoo! Mail. To use the newest version, simply click "All New Mail" located directly above the Yahoo! Mail logo at the top left of your screen.

2. View your "Contacts" list located in the left hand menu, directly below your trash folder. You will be able to view all of your contacts just as you would in Messenger, plus see who is online.

3. Click the contact that you would like to instant message, and a new tab will open inside of your inbox, at the top middle area of the screen. From here you can click on instant messaging tabs while also checking your email.

4. Change your status by selecting the "Status" option at the top middle area of your screen. You can change moods, turn invisible, and use all of the same settings you use in Yahoo! Messenger.
