1
Use repellents to drive the raccoons out. A harassing odor will encourage the raccoons to leave and will not harm them. Predator urine works well. You can purchase a raccoon repellent from many online sources as well as almost any store that sells bird supplies.
-
2
Brighten up the attic with floodlights. Because raccoons are nocturnal and prefer darkness to light, they won't want to stay.

-
3
Play a radio loudly in the attic. Set the radio to a talk station. Raccoons will do all they can to avoid humans.
-
4
Soak a rag in ammonia and hang it in the attic. You can hang multiple rags if you wish.
-
5
Trap the raccoons. There are traps specifically designed for raccoons. Place a trap (or multiple traps if you have multiple raccoons) in the the attic. Be sure to place the bait in the back of the trap. This will lure the raccoon inside, triggering the door to slam shut.
-
6
Relocate the raccoons to a safe and distant area. Put at least 10 miles between the raccoons and any nearby homes.
-
7
Hire a pest-control professional. He will be able to get the job done quick and easily. This can be done if the methods you have tried did not work or you are unsure of trying these methods on your own.
