Make sure your mattress is in saleable condition. Before you decide to sell your mattress make sure it is in a good condition. This means checking for bed bugs, stains, tears, and other damages. If your mattress has any of these things, it may be best to consider giving the mattress away for free or disposing of it.

Set a price for your mattress. Once you have determined that your mattress is in good condition, determine a fair price for it. Shop around different local mattress stores or online and see how much a similar new mattress would sell for. Be sure to take wear and tear and any possible warranties you may have on the mattress into consideration before setting a price. You can also search craigslist.org or ebay.com to see how much similar used mattresses are being sold for to help you establish your price.

Take clear and accurate pictures of your mattress. When reselling a mattress it is important for the potential buyer to see clear pictures of the mattress. A potential buyer is more likely to respond to your advertisement if the pictures are not blurry and there are several angles of the mattress pictured.

Post a listing for your mattress on websites such as Craigslist.org, Ebay.com, or even your local newspaper. Craigslist.org allows users to post free listings of items they have for sale while ebay.com and most newspapers charge a small fee. Posting a listing for your mattress will help you find a potential buyer. Once the buyer has seen your advertisement they will call you or email you and ask any questions they may have about the mattress or make an offer. Be sure to be honest and include as much detail as you can in your listing.
