Sperrys are a type of shoe created by Paul Sperry in 1935. The Sperry company makes an array of footwear for men and women but is most famous for its "boat shoes," an athletic shoe that resembles a loafer but has a rubber sole, perfect for walking across the wet deck of a boat without slipping. A typical pair of Sperrys looks like a rugged brown loafer, with a lace of rugged rawhide leather woven around the perimeter of the shoe.
