Instructions

    • 1

Place all used toilet paper in a trash bag, and dispose of the bag. Toilet paper decomposes slowly, causing the outhouse smell to be a bit stronger.

    • 2

Place air fresheners inside of the outhouse to mask odor.

    • 3

Throw a large scoop of ashes down the hole every week, or as needed depending on the amount of use. This will speed up the settling of the sludge, thereby minimizing foul odor.

    • 4

Keep the door open when the outhouse is not being used. This will ventilate the outhouse, and is extremely helpful in controlling outhouse odor.

    • 5

Place a septic tank tablet in the hole once per week to speed up decomposition and also mask odor in the outhouse.
