How to Put Together a Leprechaun Costume
Although leprechaun costumes can be found in stores around Halloween and St. Patrick's Day, they are often expensive and they may not be the right size. Luckily, it is quite easy to put together an inexpensive leprechaun costume from second-hand clothes and basic craft supplies. In addition to being a great costume piece, the leprechaun hat is a fun St. Patrick's Day craft for kids.

1
Hot glue gold ribbon along all of the edges of a green jacket, including the sleeve cuffs and the collar. If there are pockets on the jacket, hot glue gold ribbon around the pocket outline as well. Pair the green jacket with a white shirt and green pants.
-
2
Cut out two pieces of yellow construction paper that are each 3 inches square. Cut the middle of the squares out to form pieces that look like buckles. Hot glue the buckle pieces to the top of black shoes.

3
Cut a piece of green construction paper that is 10 inches wide and long enough to wrap around your head. Tape the two shorter ends together. This will form the base of the hat.
-
4
Cut out a circle of fabric that is just big enough to cover up one of the open edges of the base of the hat and tape it in place on the top of the hat.
-
5
Cut out a circle of fabric that is 14 inches in diameter. Cut out a smaller circle in the middle of it, just big enough to fit on your head. This will form the brim of the hat.
-
6
Tape the brim to the bottom of the hat. Wrap the hat with gold ribbon, just above the brim, and glue it in place.
