Bracelet blanks are plain metal bands that you can decorate yourself. They are a staple in any jewelry maker's arsenal. Use the scissors to cut a rectangular strip from the can. A standard soda can is 8 inches around, which will make a well-sized cuff for most people. Most cuff bracelets are 0.5 inch to 1 inch wide, but they can be as wide as two inches. Round the corners of your cuff bracelet blank slightly, using the scissors.

Rubs the edges of the metal with steel wool to eliminate sharp spots.

    • 4

Wrap the section of metal around a rolling pin. Tap it gently all around with a rubber hammer to help it hold the circular shape. Slide the cuff bracelet blank from the end of the rolling pin.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you plan to cover the bracelet with fabric, you can wrap it in masking tape to make the surface more workable.

  • Snipped aluminum cans may be very sharp. Take care not to cut your hands as you work. Polish the edges thoroughly with the steel wool and test them to make sure you've removed any sharp spots.

  • Wear safety goggles when cutting metal. Sometimes small metal pieces can fly off in unpredictable directions.
