Instructions

    • 1

Create at least two copies of the photo you wish to alter to allow for mistakes.

    • 2

Examine your image closely. Decide how much room you need for the dialog bubble. If the dialog bubble is too large or if you set it onto the wrong part of the picture, it can alter the image enough to make the dialog lose its effect.

    • 3

Write the dialog on a piece of adhesive paper. Make it as clear and clean as you can in a confined space. Most dialog balloons are circular so imagine the words already in a bubble as you write them. This will give the dialog bubble more of a natural look.

    • 4

Sketch the dialog bubble onto a sheet of white adhesive paper, drawing it around your dialog. Dialog bubbles can come in many shapes and sizes, so feel free to decide what suits your image.

    • 5

Cut the dialog balloon out using a craft knife, following the line of your original sketch.

    • 6

Set the dialog bubble onto the image. At this point, the paper should be on the stiff backing paper. Do not peel off the stiff backing paper until you are sure the dialog bubble fits where it should.

    • 7

Remove the stiff backing from the adhesive paper. Place the sticky side of the paper down on the image. Smooth it over with your finger until it is smooth and bubble free.

    • 8

Run the image through a copy machine to give you a clean, flat image with the dialog bubble that's easily reproducible
