The mean is one of three ways to measure central tendency in statistics. The mean refers to the numerical average of a set of numbers. Two other measures of central tendency are the median, which refers to the number that is in the middle of an ordered set of numbers, and the mode, which refers to the most frequent value in a set of numbers.

Count the number of values in the data set. Declare a variable n and assign it this value.

Add all of the values in the data set together.

Divide the sum of all of the values in the data set by n. This will give you the mean.
