How to Connect a MiniDisc to a Computer

The MiniDisc format was first introduced by the Sony Corp. in the early 1990s. The format became a bridge between earlier analog cassette tape recording technology and the recordable CD units that would emerge later in the decade. A MiniDisc device connects to a stereo system using both traditional RCA audio jacks and newer digital optical cables. Connecting a MiniDisc player to a computer requires the same adapter cables as an audio cassette recorder.

    • 2 stereo RCA to mini-headphone adapter cables

        Plug the stereo RCA end of the first adapter cable into the output of the MiniDisc device.

        Plug the mini-headphone end of the adapter cable into the blue line input of your computer's sound card. If a line input is not available on your computer, use the red microphone input.

        Plug the RCA end of the second adapter cable into the input of the MiniDisc device.

        Plug the mini-headphone end of the cable into the green speaker output of your computer's sound card.
