Instructions

    • 1

Wrap the pink yarn around the crochet hook once, to form a loop. Wrap the yarn over the hook. This is called a yarn over. Pull the yarn back through the loop on the hook. This is a chain one. Repeat twice more for a total of three chains. Insert the hook in the first chain. Yarn over and pull the loop back through the chain and the last chain loop on the hook. This is called a slip stitch. You should have a small ring.

    • 2

Chain one to start the round. Insert the hook through the center of the ring. Yarn over and pull the yarn back through the ring. You now have two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops on the hook. This is called a single crochet. Crochet seven more single crochet stitches for a total of eight. Slip stitch to the beginning chain one of the round. The side facing you is the front of the flower.

    • 3

Chain one to start the round. Insert the hook through the back loop of the first single crochet of the previous round and crochet a single crochet. Repeat once more in the same stitch. Crochet two single crochet stitches in the back loops of each single crochet around the round, for a total of 16 single crochet stitches. Slip stitch to the beginning chain one of the round.

    • 4

Cut a 3-inch tail on the yarn. Tie the purple yarn to the pink tail. Chain three to start the round. Turn the crocheted circle around with the back of the flower facing you. Yarn over and insert the yarn in the first single crochet stitch. Yarn over and pull the yarn back through the stitch. You should have three loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through two loops. You now have two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops on the hook. This is called a double crochet.

    • 5

Skip the next stitch and slip stitch in the next. Chain three. Crochet two double crochets in the base of the chain three. Repeat this step all the way around the round. Slip stitch to the bottom of the round's beginning chain three.

    • 6

Turn the flower so the right side is facing you. Slip stitch across the surface of the flower to the unstitched front loops of the second round. Chain three. Crochet two double crochets in the base of the chain three. Skip the next front loop and slip stitch in the next loop. Repeat from the beginning of the chain-three sequence three more times for a total of four petals. Knot and cut the yarn. Weave the yarn tails into the back of the flower and trim.

    • 7

Turn the flower with the back side up. Place a 1/2-inch pin back, horizontally, just above the center. Hand stitch the pin back to secure.
