      Lay out the patches next to the clothes they need to be attached to. Each patch must be clean and free of dirt or fuzz. Consult the Army Regulation Handbook 670-1 for instructions on the placement of each patch, depending on the rank and the unit the soldier is assigned to.

      Attach the patches to the clothing with tape or straight pins. Place the patches in the proper location and straighten them.

      Sew the patches with your sewing machine in the proper location on the uniform along the inside edge of the patch. Use thread that matches the color of the inside edge of the patch, or use clear thread. Back stitch the beginning and end to keep the thread in place.

      Clip any loose thread ends from the patch with the scissors.
