How to Open a Chat Window in Windows Live Messenger

Windows Live Messenger is a messaging program you can use to communicate with other users through chat messages. It is a free and exciting way of keeping in touch with your friends. Starting a chat conversation on Windows Live Messenger is simple and does not require any effort. If the person you want to chat with is online, you can begin chatting in just a few clicks.

Instructions

1. Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "All Programs." Click "Windows Live Messenger" from the list to launch the messaging application.

2. Click the contact with whom you want to chat. The IM window will launch. Be sure that the contact is online.

3. Type your message and click "Send." When your recipient sends you an instant text, type your message again and click "Send." If you want to change your font, click the "Font" icon and select the font style that you prefer. Add smiles to your chat messages by clicking the "Smile" icon and clicking the smiley face that you want to use.

4. Start another chat with another friend by clicking on him to launch a new IM window.
