How to Make Vinyl Stickers on a Printer

Do-it-yourself crafting projects may require stickers that are personal or can't be found at the arts and crafts store. Using an inkjet printer and the correct vinyl paper, original stickers are a snap to make. Make a bumper-size sticker, a small decorative sticker or any size in between, as long as the image fits on an 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch sheet of vinyl paper it can become a sticker. Create gift stickers, decoupage stickers or stickers for a laptop.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an image with crisp, sharp outlines. Scan it into the computer.

    • 2

Adjust the image size using a graphics software program, such as Photoshop or Corel Draw to create the desired sticker. Create a page of the same image or multiple images.

    • 3

Print a paper copy of the images to verify its size, color and placement on the page. Placement should allow easy cutting out of each image---at least a half inch between each image will allow for an 1/8 to 1/4 inch border around each sticker.

    • 4

Place a sheet of the vinyl adhesive paper in an inkjet printer and print a sheet of stickers.

    • 5

Use a sharp scissor to cut around each image leaving a small border for easy handling. Peel back the adhesive and place the sticker on a surface.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try a vinyl cling inkjet product for removable stickers.

  • Vinyl inkjet products are not meant for use in other types of printers. Other printers could melt the product and possibly ruin the printer.
