How to Remove RV Stickers

Stickers on RV bumpers may show other drivers where you have been or who you voted for in the last election, but stickers get abused over time from rain, cold and heat and start to look ugly. Removing RV stickers from the bumper or other parts of an RV is not hard, provided you do so in a certain way.

Instructions

    • 1

Heat the sticker by parking the RV in the sun for 30 minutes. If it is winter, use a blow dryer to heat the sticker to loosen it.

    • 2

Peel the bumper sticker off by raising one corner with your fingernail or a credit card and gently pulling it off. You may continue to hold the blow dryer on the sticker as you continue to pull it off. Bumper stickers that have not been on the RV long may have an adhesive that has not dried, allowing for easier removal.

    • 3

Spray a solvent such as WD-40 on RV stickers that do not peel easily. Saturate the sticker and continue to peel it off.

    • 4

Soak the sticker with one cup or more of white vinegar. Allow the vinegar to work for five minutes. The vinegar eats away at the adhesive or glue on the sticker. Proceed to remove the sticker with a credit card or spatula.

    • 5

Soak the sticker with ½ a cup of olive oil if the sticker is on a painted surface of the RV. Remove the sticker after waiting five minutes to allow the olive oil to loosen the sticker.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use vinegar on RV stickers placed on a painted surface as vinegar may damage paint. Be careful when using credit cards to peel off stickers not to damage the surface area of the RV. You may use a razor to remove stickers, but be careful not to cut yourself or scratch the RV.
