How to Crochet a Snuggle Sack
A snuggle sack is a fabric tube designed for dogs who like to sleep underneath the covers and owners who don't want to share their bed at night. Snuggle sacks can be sewn from a variety of fabrics or can be crocheted with inexpensive leftover yarn. Lay a snuggle sack at the foot of the bed and introduce it to your dog. It will crawl into it and fall asleep, warm and toasty and, most importantly, not in your sheets. A crocheted snuggle sack can be made by crocheters with basic talents, as it only takes basic chain and double crochet stitches.

1
Measure your dog while it is laying down on his side. Measure from the tip of its paws to the top of its back. Double this number. This will be the length of your beginning chain.
-
2
Use the H hook to loosely chain until the chain is the correct length for the number you figured in Step 1. Add 10 more stitches to provide a little bit of looseness to the snuggle sack. Turn.

3
Skip the first three chains, then double crochet in every chain after that until the end. When you reach the end of the row, chain three and turn.
-
4
Skip the first stitch and double crochet in every stitch after that until the end of the row. Continue making rows in this manner until the piece is wide enough to measure from your dog's nose to her tail base.
-
5
Fasten off when you have crocheted enough rows to fit your dog. Fold the piece in half with the crochet rows going horizontally. The original chain row will be at the top and the last row that you crocheted will be at the bottom. There will be a fold on the right and an opening on the left.

6
Slip stitch closed the opening that is on the left using a yarn needle and worsted weight yarn. When the opening is stitched closed, cut off the yarn, leaving a tail about 5 inches long. Weave in the tail end to hide it in the crochet stitching. Your snuggle sack is now ready for your dog to enjoy.
