How to Fix XP Home System Files

An operating system is an incredibly complex piece of programming, with countless system files. Where something goes wrong with one or more system files, your computer can experience problems such as random error messages, system restarts, blue screens and other undesirable consequences. Repairing the system files of your XP Home system requires the use of the repair utility built into the XP Home CD.

Instructions

1. Place the Windows XP Home CD into your computer and restart the computer.

2. Hit any key when prompted by the computer to boot from CD.

3. Navigate through the screens after accepting the end user licensing agreement

4. Use the arrow keys to select the drive upon which Windows XP Home is installed from the list onscreen and press "R" to repair your system files.

5. Reboot your computer when the repair is complete.
