Sign up for a free online survey site. Survey Monkey is used in the following steps. You only need to enter a user name, password and email address to begin creating surveys, and the format is simple to use. They also have free support, even for those with a basic account.

Follow the steps to create a survey. You will need to pick a survey title prior to entering survey questions. Just type a title into the field and click once on the "Create Survey" button. Use the "Add Question Here" buttons to enter questions into your survey. This will generate a pop up window that will offer you a wide variety of question types, such as multiple choice. Enter the appropriate information for the type of question you chose. When you have finished editing the individual question content, click once on the "Save Changes" button.

Repeat step 2 for each question you want to add to the survey. Using the free account on Survey Monkey, you are allowed up to ten questions. If you want to see what the survey will look like to those who participate, click once on the "Preview Survey" button. When you have finished adding content to the survey, click once on the "Collect Responses" tab.

Select the "Create a link" option on the "Collect Responses" screen. You may name the "collector" that you will send by typing into the "Name" field. Click once on the "Next Step" button. Highlight the link text in the "Sending a Survey Link in an Email" field. Right click once on the link text and select the "Copy" option.

Open your email program. The terms used for creating a new email may vary by provider, but the basics are usually the same. Click on the "Compose Mail" link to launch a new email. Right click once within the body of the email and select the "Paste" option. This action will paste the link into the email. Fill out the remainder of the email, including the addresses of those to whom you want to send the survey. Click once on the "Send" button when you're ready to send the survey link.
