How to Connect a Pool Vac to the Side of a Pool
Outdoor pools, while they're open for the swimming season, will collect dirt from the surrounding environment. For clean water, vacuum your pool at least once a week; maybe more, depending on how dirty it gets. Connecting a pool vacuum hose to the side of your pool requires only a skim vac to attach it to the filter system. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
If the pool has more than one skimmer, remove the lid from the skimmer nearest the filtration system pump and open the bottom slide valve as far as it can go.
-
2
Remove the lid from the other skimmer(s) and close the bottom slide valve(s) completely.
-
-
3
Secure one end of the vacuum's hose to the skim vac and the other end of the vacuum's hose to the vacuum's brush head.
-
4
Drop the vacuum's brush head into the pool and let it sink slowly while it fills up with water.
-
5
Secure the skim vac's suction plate onto the top of the skimmer basket. Make sure it has a good vacuum seal by testing to see if it can be pulled loose from the skimmer basket. If it can't be moved, your vacuum is now connected to the side of your pool.

Tips & Warnings
You'll probably need to turn off your filter pump when you close and open the skimmer valves. The pump's suction can make the valves difficult to close and open when it's on. It's important to drop the vacuum head into the pool before you secure the skim vac to the skimmer basket, because otherwise, the filter will suction air into the filter system, and with no water in the pump to keep it cool, it could fail.
