1
Cut a piece of carpet out that completely removes the iron burn mark. Use a utility knife. Iron burns are in a triangle shape, but try to cut a square piece just a bit bigger than the actual burn mark. Do your best to cut only carpet, not the padding.

2
Find a place carpeted with the same carpet that was burned, but in an unnoticeable place. Preferably, this will be in a closet or somewhere that will never really be exposed. A spare carpet sample or a remnant would be ideal.

3
Take the piece of carpet you cut and use it as a stencil to cut a new piece to replace the burned area.
-
4
Place a sufficient amount of carpet glue on the back of the substitute piece of carpet, using a hot glue gun. Put the piece of glued carpet in place and press down firmly.
-
5
Allow the glue to dry and then gently pull up and look for loose edges that did not take. If there are, apply carpet glue to those areas, press down again and allow to dry. This is important because you do not want this piece to dislodge when you walk on it or vacuum.
