When inserting your signature in the Outlook email program, there are three message formats you can use, "Plain Text," "Rich Text" and "HTML" (Hyper Text Markup Language). A plain text email does not allow you to jazz up your email signature because no special fonts, colors or formatting is allowed. Rich text emails allow you to create fancy signatures. However, if the email recipient is not using the same email program that you are using, your signature may not display properly. By using HTML formatting, you can ensure that your scrolling signature is viewed the same by all who read your message.

Step 1

Open your Outlook email client. Click "Tools" from the top menu bar. Select "Options."

Step 2

Click on the "Mail Format" tab. Locate the "Message Format" section.

Step 3

Click the drop-down menu to select "HTML" as the desired message format.

Step 4

Click the "Signatures" button, which is in the "Signatures" section.

Step 5

Click on the email signature for which you desire to insert scrolling text. Click "Edit."

Step 6

Place the following HTML code inside of the signature's text box:

Type the text you want to scroll here.

If you desire to adjust the specifics, such as the font (text) size, font type, text color, background color and the width of your scrolling signature, you can use the HTML code below.

Type the text you want to scroll here.

Step 7

Click "OK" to save your scrolling signature.
