How to Clean the Inside Glass in a Flatbed Scanner
Flatbed scanners are useful for making copies of most any document. They're easy to operate too. Basically, you lift the protective lid that covers the glass, place the document or item on the glass, lower the lid, and hit the "Start" button. The flatbed scanner creates an image of the document or object. It's then sent to your computer. One problem with this type of scanner is that if there's dirt, debris or smudges on the glass, it may show up on the scan.

1
Shut the flatbed scanner off. Allow the glass to cool down if the machine was used recently. Hot or warm glass can cause the cleaner to dry too fast and create streaks. Lift up the protective lid over the glass.
-
2
Spray a few few squirts of glass cleaner in the middle of a soft cotton cloth.

3
Wipe the glass with the cloth. Make sure to clean the entire glass, especially around the edges and in the corners. Turn the rag over and use the other side once it becomes soiled. After it's clean, wipe the glass dry.

4
Check to see whether the glass is clean by looking at it from different angles. If you see any leftover dirt, debris or smudges, spray a clean area on the cloth (or use a second cloth) with additional glass cleaner. Wipe the glass again and recheck it.

Tips & Warnings
Never spray glass cleaner directly onto the inside glass in a flatbed scanner. It could get inside and damage the inner components.
