How to Edit a Hyperlink in Powerpoint

Hyperlinks can lead a PowerPoint audience to reputable sources, other PowerPoint slides, movie files, Web pages or any destination on the computer where the presentation is being watched. Editing a hyperlink in PowerPoint is very much the same as editing a hyperlink in other Microsoft Office programs. You can change both the text that appears for the hyperlink and the address where it leads by using the "edit" menu that appears with a right-click of the hyperlink.

Instructions

    • 1

Open PowerPoint by clicking "Start," then selecting "Microsoft Office" and then "Microsoft Office PowerPoint."

    • 2

Open the PowerPoint presentation where you want to edit a hyperlink by clicking the Microsoft Office Button (or "file" button in older version of PowerPoint), then clicking "browse," and double-clicking the presentation in the file menu.

    • 3

Scroll to the slide in the presentation that contains the hyperlink.

    • 4

      Right-click the hyperlink.

    • 5

Click "edit hyperlink" in the menu that appears.

    • 6

Click the box next to the words "Text to display" in the window that appears. Here you can change the way the hyperlink appears on the page. These are the words that take the place of the actual link.

    • 7

Click the box next to where it says "Address." Here you can change where the hyperlink goes when clicked.

    • 8

Click "Ok" to save your changes to the hyperlink.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also remove a hyperlink by right clicking the hyperlink and selecting "Remove Hyperlink."
