How to Sort Coupons
Clipping coupons is a good way to save money on a weekly grocery bill. Lots of grocery stores, and even some department stores, honor most manufacturers' coupons. Use your coupons on a double or triple coupon day, if your local store has one, to really rack up savings. Keep your coupons sorted so you can get to them easily when you are ready to go grocery shopping. Keep on top of expiring coupons by reviewing your coupons at least once a month.

1
Clip coupons out of the circulars and newspapers with scissors. If you have found coupons online, print them using your computer's printer. Choose a smaller version that is easy to clip. Be careful when cutting out coupons. You do not want to clip away the expiration date.
-
2
Look at the coupons one by one, checking for the expiration dates. The expiration dates are written in fine or small print on the edge of the coupon. If the date listed has passed, then the coupon has expired and is not redeemable. Throw away expired coupons.

Write on the tabs the category names you will use most. Categories should be dairy, bread, meat, laundry, vegetables and canned foods. You may have other categories you wish to add. Stick the tabs on the coupon dividers of the coupon holder.
-
4
Sort the coupons according to the categories you have named. Stack all the dairy coupons together, then the bread.
-
5
Create a special divider in your holder for coupons that are about to expire. This will help you use them before they expire.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not have an accordion-style coupon holder, use envelopes. Just label the envelopes by type with a pen.
