    • 1

Measure directly under your bust line, along the top of your ribcage, with a fabric measuring tape. This will determine your band size. If the measurement is an even number, add four inches to it to determine band size. If the measurement is an odd number, add five inches to it.

    • 2

Measure the fullest part of your bust to determine cup size. Always round up to the nearest whole number.

    • 3

Calculate your cup size by subtracting the second measurement (along the fullest part of your bust) from the band size you determined in step one. The difference between the two numbers will determine your cup size. A difference of 1" is an A cup, 2" is a B cup, 3" is a C cup, 4" is a D cup, and so forth.

    • 4

Use your calculated cup size and the original band size from step one to determine your bra size. For example, if your band measurement was 33", adding 5" results in a band size of 38". If the fullest part of your bust measures 41", subtract 38" for a difference of 3". Your cup size is therefore a C, and your band size is a 38, making your final bra size a 38C.

Tips & Warnings

  • Measure your bra size each time you need to buy new bras. Gaining or losing weight can influence the size of your bust, and it is important to have a well-fitting bra. A well-fitting bra should rest comfortably against your chest and always be comfortable while providing adequate support.
