How to Make an Omnivore in Spore
The computer game Spore allows you to start as a single cell organism and continually evolve until your creations are ready to explore the vastness of space. One of the first choices you'll have to make is to decide between creating a meat eating carnivore or a plant eating herbivore. This choice will dictate how your creature feeds and is perceived by others around it. Players can also choose a third option, the omnivore, which eats both plants and animals. You can create an omnivore by adding new parts onto your existing creature.

Begin a new game and start in the Cell Stage. Choose your starting diet as "Carnivore" and choose the game difficulty level of your choice.

Navigate around the water using the directional keys on your keyboard. Eat five pieces of meat, which appear as pink on the screen. When prompted, press the "Call Mate" button on the center of the bottom menu.

Swim to your mate and enter the "Cell Creator" menu. Add offensive parts to your cell such as spikes so that it can defeat other cells. Save and return to the water.

Attack other cells by running into them with your spikes or mouth. Certain cells will leave behind parts upon their defeat that you can use on your own cell.

Continue to defeat cells until you obtain the "proboscis" part. This will allow your cell to become an omnivore.

Call your mate and go to the "Cell Creator" menu. Replace the current mouth on your cell with the proboscis. This will cost 25 DNA points, which can be obtained by consuming meat.

Return to the water and now you can feed off of living creatures as well as the green plants you find floating around.

Vary the types of food your cell is eating. Consuming more green plants will balance out your cell since you've been feeding it meat before becoming an omnivore.

Click on the "History" button on the bottom right of the screen. You will see a chart of your cell's growth. Omnivores are located in the center. Eating meat will drive your character down to carnivore while plants raise it up to herbivore.

Continue to fill your DNA meter at the bottom of the screen by consuming different foods until you are ready to evolve. Click "Advance" when prompted to take your omnivore onto land.
