How to Fix Windows XP Policy Settings

Policy Settings on the Windows XP operating system control which users on the computer have access to certain programs and features. If your group policy settings become hopelessly muddled or corrupt, the only option is to restore them all to default settings.

      Open the "Start" menu and click the "Run" button.

      Type "cmd" (without quotes) in the "Run" text field and press "Enter", bringing up a DOS prompt.

    • 3

      Enter "secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose" (without quotes) in the DOS prompt field and press "Enter" to restore your policy settings to factory settings.
