How to Make Micro Braids Tight
Micro braids are a series of small, tight braids used to control and style hair. This hairstyle first became popular in Africa, where it has been used for centuries by women seeking to control their hair. Micro braids have also gained popularity in Europe and the U.S., where they are both trendy and practical for their easy maintenance. Although there are many hair salons that specialize in micro braiding, the hairstyle is also easy to do at home. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hot oil your hair before you start, using a product like VO5 hot oil treatment. This will nourish the hair and keep it healthy and flexible during the micro braiding. Always follow manufacturer directions when using hot oil.
-
2
Braid your hair after you've rinsed out the oil and while the hair is still slightly damp. This will make your hair more manageable. Use the comb to separate out 1 to 2 inches of hair. Divide this section into three parts.

Hold the three parts in your hands. Use the left hand to cross the left section of hair over the middle section, so that the left-hand section now lies in the middle. Pass the right-hand section over the middle section, so that it now lies in the middle.
-
4
Pull the sections outward after each pass to tighten the micro braid. Do not pull too hard as hair could break. Continue this process until you reach the end of that section of hair. Secure the micro braid with a rubber band, and start another section.
