How to Determine Length of Cotter Pin
A cotter pin is a type of pin used to fasten pieces of metal together. The length of a cotter pin is measured in fractional inches, starting at 1/32 of an inch. Locate the "eye" of the cotter pin. The cotter pin's eye is the ring-like shape found at the end of the pin. Two pin legs should be extending outward from this eye.

Identify which of the two pin legs is the shortest.
