How to Edit Movies Using iMovie
Mac's iMovie has made video editing accessible to anyone with a computer. Now you can add the effects you've seen in Hollywood productions to your very own videos and home movies. The process of editing movies in iMovie can take a little while to get used to, but after a little practice, you too can be creating movies like a pro.

Import your movie files into iMovie by clicking "File," then "Import movies..." Your movies will appear in a new event in the lower left corner of the iMovie window.

Create a new project by clicking "File," then "New Project." A blank space will appear in the middle of the screen that reads, "Drag media here to create a new project."

Open the event with the raw video footage. It will appear in full in the bottom section of the screen.

Select a portion of the video you wish to include in your final project by clicking on it. A yellow box will appear. Expand the sides of the box until it contains all the video you wish to keep. Drag the box into the empty project. Continue this process until you have collected all the video you want to include in your final video.

Add music to your video by click on the small iTunes logo button located on the right side of the screen, directly beneath the video preview section. Also, the three buttons to the right allow you to create and edit any text, photos or transitions you wish to add to your video.

Publish your movie by clicking "Share," then selecting "Export Movie..."

Try a lot of different effects before you choose any. There are dozens to choose from, and the best way to pick one is to get to know all of them.
