How to Add Wireless to My Verizon DSL
Verizon's DSL, or digital subscriber line, broadband service is a speedy, generally reliable choice for Internet access, but its basic configuration requires that your computer is physically connected to the DSL modem. As a result, you can place your computer only as far as your Ethernet cable allows. However, by adding wireless technology to the mix, you can use Verizon's DSL service almost anywhere in your home.
Instructions

-
1
Purchase a wireless router, preferably one that supports the newer wireless N standard so that you're using the fastest, most secure technology currently available.
-
2
Purchase a wireless adapter for each computer you plan to connect to the wireless network. These adapters come both in USB and internal (PCI) flavors, though the internal cards typically offer greater range than the smaller USB adapters. Most modern laptop computer have integrated wireless as a standard feature, so check before buying an adapter.

3
Install the wireless router according the manufacturer's instructions. This includes connecting the Verizon DSL model to the router and connecting the router to the host PC, using an Ethernet cable.
-
4
Configure the router so that your wireless network has a name and is secured with encryption. For extra security, be sure to turn off the SSID broadcast to prevent your wireless network from appearing to anyone near your network.
-
5
Configure each of your wireless computers to connect to the wireless network. This requires that you use the computer's wireless software to find the network (or you can type in the network name). Next, enter the encryption code or passphrase to be granted access to the network.

Tips & Warnings
Never skip the use of encryption on your wireless network. Wireless networks are notoriously weak when security isn't properly configured, so be sure to use the best encryption that your router provides. WPA-2 provides excellent security with a passphrase configuration that's easy to use.
