Look at the metals used on the handles, feet, zippers and other embellishments found on your handbag. Dooney & Bourke only utilize copper on their pieces, so if your bag is adorned with silver zippers or buckles, it is not an authentic purse.

Examine the leather logo, which can be found on the front of your handbag. The stitching on the label of an authentic Dooney & Bourke purse should match the stitching found on the rest of the seams. If they are dissimilar, the bag is a fake.

Check out the trim and the handles of the bag. Almost all Dooney & Bourke handbags are trimmed with British tan leather. If your bag doesn't contain this tan trim or handle or the material used is not real leather, then the bag is not real.
