Instructions

    • 1

String 90 beads onto your skein of crochet thread using a beading needle. You can use any type of bead for this project, but something around the size of a pony bead works best.

    • 2

Using your crochet hook, chain six stitches. Then pull up a bead from the skein and make a slip stitch around it. To do this, position your hook on the finished side of your initial six chain stitches. Then pull the bead up next to the hook and bring the hook around the bead to draw up a loop for the slip stitch using the thread from the other side of the bead. Now you have a slip stitch around the bead, effectively holding the bead in place on your necklace.

Make six more chain stitches and then another beaded slip stitch; repeat until you have used 30 beads total. Finish with six chain stitches.

Make the second strand by chaining four stitches. Then make a beaded slip stitch and four more chain stitches, repeating this step around until you have used 30 more beads.

    • 4

Make the third strand by alternating two chain stitches with beaded slip stitches. Use 30 beads again. When you reach the end, finish by making two chain stitches and then making a slip stitch to fasten off. Cut your thread and weave it back and forth around your starting chain stitches to weave in the ends.

Assemble your necklace. Pinch together the first chain stitches from each strand, and thread a jump ring through them, pinching it closed. Repeat this on the opposite side of the necklace; now you should clearly see the three strands of your necklace hanging together, with jump rings on either side. Attach necklace closures to these jump rings, and you're done.

Tips & Warnings

  • Coordinate the color of your beads to the color of your crochet thread for a matching look.
