A PlayStation 2 comes with an Ethernet port for communicating with other gamers over the Internet. The port connects to a computer with Internet service so the user can compete against other gamers throughout the world. Game signals transmit from the computer to the PS2 for viewing on a connected television. Connecting the PS2 to a computer takes only seconds.

Things You'll Need:

  • Ethernet Cord
  • Network Adapter For Ps2

Turn off the equipment and locate the Ethernet port on the back of the PS2 game console. The jack resembles a telephone jack, only slightly wider.

Insert the plug on one end of the Ethernet cord into the jack on the PS2. Press the plug straight in with the flexible tab on top until it clicks in place.

Plug the other end of the cable into a free Ethernet port on the computer.

Turn on the PS2 and press the "Menu" button on the controller, then use the arrow keys to scroll to "Network Settings" and choose "Ethernet," then press the "X" button on the right-hand side of the controller.

Tip

Plug the Ethernet cable from the PS2 to a wireless router that can communicate with the computer. That way, the gaming system and the computer can be located in different rooms without running a long cable.

Warnings:

  • Do not turn on the equipment until the cable connection is complete.
