How to Hook Up Internet With a Coaxial Cable

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your cable provider and sign up for Internet service through the company. You can only have cable Internet through a cable television provider. Set up a day and a time frame for a cable technician to install the needed coaxial cable outputs.

    • 2

Run the coaxial cable from the wall to your cable modem. Although you can purchase a cable modem yourself, you can rent one from your cable company, usually for a few dollars a month.

    • 3

Connect the coaxial cable into the "Internet" port on the back of the cable modem. Secure the connection by tightening the connector completely.

    • 4

Attach an Ethernet cable into one of the "Out" ports on the cable modem. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the computer.
