How to Customize the Internet Explorer 7 Links Bar

In Internet Explorer, a Links Bar at the top of the window provides single-click access to many commonly-used websites. When Internet Explorer 7 is first installed, the Links Bar displays several Microsoft-oriented websites which some users may not wish to visit frequently. Customize the Internet Explorer 7 Links Bar by deleting links that you do not use, and adding those that you do.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Internet Explorer 7. Confirm that the Links Bar is displayed by clicking "View" and "Toolbars". A check should be present next to "Links". If no check is present, click "Links". If a check is there, return to the Internet Explorer window.

    • 2

Right-click each link that you want to remove. Click "Delete" and then click "Yes".

    • 3

Browse to a website that you would like to add to the Links Bar. Click "Favorites", then click "Add to Favorites".

    • 4

Click the drop-down menu next to "Create in" and select "Links".

    • 5

Type a name for the link, if desired. You can fit more links on the Links Bar by making each name as short as possible. For example, "Yahoo! Mail" might be renamed "YM" to consume less space.

    • 6

Click "Add". The new link will be created immediately. Click the link at any time to travel directly to that site.
