How to Remove Autofill From Internet Explorer 7

In Internet Explorer 7, a feature called "Autofill" (or more correctly, "AutoComplete") automatically saves items that you type, such as website addresses and common form elements such as your name, then makes suggestions when it sees similar forms, with the goal of reducing the amount of time that you spend typing. While this feature is convenient, it may be a security risk on a computer that others have access to. Remove Autofill from Internet Explorer 7 to prevent others from seeing what you have typed while browsing the Web.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer, then click "Internet Options".

    • 2

Click the "Content" tab, then click the "Settings" button under "AutoComplete".

    • 3

Remove the check from each box to disable AutoComplete entirely, or leave some boxes checked to disable it selectively. AutoComplete can save web addresses, forms, user names and passwords.

    • 4

Click "OK" to save your settings, then click the "General" tab.

    • 5

Click the "Delete" button, then click "Delete All" to delete the information that AutoComplete has saved.

    • 6

Click "OK" to close each window when the process is complete.
