How to Design Your Own Christmas Cards for Email
You can create a Christmas card suitable to send via email with a variety of resources available online or by using a program such as PowerPoint or Microsoft Word. ECards (email cards) are a quick, inexpensive and environmentally friendly way to send holiday greetings to family, friends and colleagues. Using either method allows you to personalize the card for each recipient, adding your own personality and including new family photographs and news of events.

1
Visit an e-card website for a large selection of Christmas eCards. Personalize your selection with a holiday message and simply click "Send." Include a different personalized message for every person on your Christmas card list. Some sites offer subscription plans, while others are free. Look at websites such as American Greetings, Hallmark, or Blue Mountain.

3
Create your own photo eCard with a free online service such as Photobucket. There you can upload your photo and click on "Edit image," revealing several tabs with which you can alter your picture. For example, using the decorate tab, change your photo into a Christmas card by adding holiday text, color and a frame. Add "stickers" such as presents and bows. Include a picture depicting your family plus the recipient's family to create a different card for each recipient. Save your modified picture on your own computer. Send it through your regular email program as an attachment.

4
Create a card as an attachable document using a word processing program. Open PowerPoint on your computer, insert pictures representing events from your year, add text describing those experiences and add Christmas clip art. Make the document any size, from a standard card to an 8 ½ by 11, which allows you to include more than one picture and event. Add a general or personalized Christmas greeting. Convert the file to a PDF document so the recipient's computer can display the card, since some might not have PowerPoint.

Tips & Warnings
ECards have many benefits compared with traditional greeting cards: They are fast; often free or less expensive than a card with envelope plus stamp; convenient; almost limitless in selection; and environmentally friendly. They can include music and interactivity and can be sent to a lot of people at once.
Some might be offended by a mass-produced eCard. For those people, send a personalized greeting instead.
