How to Use the Bead Method Removal for Hair Extensions

This is a vast improvement over earlier hair extension methods, which usually damaged hair. The bead method of hair extension uses tiny metal beads that attach to your natural hair near the base of your head. You then sew extensions into the beads. Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a pair of hair extension bead opening pliers. You may also use regular needle-nosed pliers, although these may snag hair and not open beads as easily.

    • 2

Isolate the bead closest to your face on one side of your head.

    • 3

Grip the bead on its two narrowest sides with the pliers.

    • 4

Squeeze the bead to open it.

    • 5

Slide the opened bead along with the extension down the length of your hair to remove the extension.

    • 6

Repeat steps 2 through 5 until you have reached the center of the back of your head.

    • 7

Check to ensure that you removed all of the beads from the hair on this side of your head.

    • 8

Secure the hair from which you removed the beads using a clip or a hair tie. This will prevent the hair from entangling with the hair on the other side of your head while you work to remove those extensions.

    • 9

Isolate the bead closest to your face on the other side of your head.

    • 10

Repeat steps 2 through 5 until you have removed all of the beads from your hair.

    • 11

Dispose of the beads. Removal damages the beads, so you should not reuse them.
