How to Make a No-Sew Single Tie Blanket

Without the help of a sewing machine, or even a needle and thread, you can make a cozy fleece blanket in just about an hour. Fleece is the ideal fabric for a no-sew blanket, since it doesn't fray when cut. These tie blankets can be made in any size, so you can make them for infants, adults, or just for a nice throw over your couch. Fleece comes in many colors and patterns, so you can make a unique blanket for its recipient.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the fleece on a flat surface and smooth out any wrinkles. The fleece can be spread out with either side facing up.

    • 2

Cut off any edges that have been finished by a machine. This will eliminate the edges rolling inward.

    • 3

Decide what length fringe you want the blanket to have. Smaller blankets generally have a 2-inch fringe, while larger blankets have a 4-inch fringe.

    • 4

Cut a square out of each corner of the fleece. The sides of the square should be the same length as the fringe.

    • 5

Lay a tape measure across one edge of the fleece. At every inch, make a straight cut. (Two or four inches, depending on the length of fringe you want.)

    • 6

Tie a single knot toward the blanket-end of each piece of fringe.
