Men who wish to buy a suit in Italy, or who have come across an Italian suit but want to know if it fits them, need to do a simple size conversion as well.

1. Locate the size of the Italian suit. It will range from numbers 46 to 54.

2. Determine your own American suit size. It will range from numbers 36 to 44.

3. Add 10 to your American suit size. This is your Italian suit size.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are purchasing a pair of pants separate from a suit jacket, the conversion is slightly different. The jacket size will convert as described here, but because pants are measured by the waist and inseam, the measurements will be quite different. American measurements are in inches; Italian measurements are in centimeters. A man who wears an American 28 will wear and Italian 71; an American 30 equals an Italian 76. Every two inches equals five centimeters. The same measurement formula applies to inseam measurements.
