How to Clean Dirty Carpet

Dust does not always return the carpet appearances. For dirty carpets, shampooing is recommended, rather than place-cleaning. Spray machines and hot detergent solution to clean the carpet. Here are some steps to get the carpet looking clean as new.

• vacuum cleaner

Instructions

1. Purchase or rent a machine at the hardware or grocery store. When you rent a machine, the necessary cleaning products are usually included or can be purchased at the rental store.

2. Vacuum the floor thoroughly.
   Spray soiled areas with pre-spray or traffic lane. To place really dirty, increase the amount of carpet shampoo pre-spray increase.

3. Fill machine hose or reservoir with hot tap water.
   Use a carpet shampoo machine and according to the manufacturer's instructions.

4. Maximize the amount of water released from the carpet with a water-extraction with water spray, and then with a final spray. Test the carpet with your hand. If you hand water droplets, extract again with the spray end; if you feel clammy hands after touching the carpet, you have to do it right.

5. Wait overnight for the carpet to dry before walking on it. Dry thoroughly, open windows and use fans.

Tips & Warnings

• To help clean up that last longer, neutralize detergent residue on the carpet with steam, with a vinegar rinse consisting of 1 c. vinegar and 1 gallon of water.

• Over saturating carpet can cause water flooding and remembering about the carpet, can cause damage to floors below.
