How to Convert a Microsoft Publisher Website to HTML Standards

Microsoft Publisher has several pre-designed templates to create professional desktop publishing documents. One type of template available is websites. Publisher even takes you through an easy wizard to add web pages and components to the website to your liking. The only problem is that when that Publisher saves the website as a Publisher file and not a HTML document. This isn't a huge problem since it is easy to save a Publisher website as a HTML website within the program.

      Open the website in Publisher. Click "File > Open" if you are using the version of Microsoft Publisher that is 2003 or earlier. For Publisher 2007, click on the "Office" button and then "Open." Locate the website Publisher file and click "Open."

      Click "Save As" to save the Publisher website file as another type. Click "File > Save as" or "Office button > Save As," depending on the version of the program you are using.

      Click the drop-down arrow next to the "File type as" box and choose either "Single File Web Page" or "Web Page, Filtered." Publisher saves the website as an HTML document.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also publish the web page from Publisher and allow Publisher to convert the file for you. Click on "File > Publish" or "Office button > Publish" to publish the web page.
