How to Seat a Tire on a Rim

Having someone seat a tire onto a rim for you will cost you a lot of time and money. You can do this at your home and on your time. You need a crow bar and some lubricant spray to slip the tire over the rim. Anytime you damage a tire more than a small hole, you should replace the tire to avoid possible injury to yourself and damage to your vehicle. This is a universal process that will work on just about any tire.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the inner side of the tire onto the rim until you can no longer push the tire onto the rim. Slide the crow bar between the tire and the rim. Pull up on the crow bar upward to slide the tire onto the rim.

    • 2

Insert the inner tube between the rim and the tire. Place the air stem into the hold on the rim so that you don't loose the air stem inside the rim once you have got the tire completely onto the rim.

    • 3

Slide the inner side of the tire to the inner side of the rim. Slide the crow bar between the outer side of the tire and the rim. Pull the crow bar upward to get the lip of the tire over the edge of the rim. Make sure that you go all the way around the rim and secure the tire completely onto the rim.
