How to Move Windows Messenger Contact List to Office Communicator
Windows Messenger is considered to be one of the most popular instant messaging program. If you've been using it and plan to upgrade to Office Communicator, you may be wondering how to move your contact list from Windows Messenger. As it turns out, migrating your contact list from one to the other is easy and only requires a resource kit--and that you open Communicator.

Download the Office Communicator resource kit. Save it to your Desktop.

Double-click the LCResKit.msi file on your Desktop and follow the on-screen prompts to install it. Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

Open Office Communicator by going to "Start," then "Programs," then "Microsoft Office" and finally, "Office Communicator." Sign-in with your username and password for your Live web-based email service account.

Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your Desktop or in the "Start" menu. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft LC." Double-click "importcontacts.exe."

Click the "Import" button and then re-open Communicator. You will now see all your MSN contacts appear within the Communicator/MSN contacts group since you have moved the contact list from Messenger to Communicator.

Tips & Warnings
Run the tool again if it doesn't work the first time. Most of the time, the tool will work the first time you run it; occasionally it won't. It's a good idea to run the tool again.
