How to Use a Samsung Omnia As a Laptop Modem

The Samsung Omnia is a mobile smartphone from Samsung Mobile and sold by Verizon Wireless in the United States. It runs a Windows Mobile operating system that includes a feature to use the Samsung Omnia as a laptop modem. This feature is called Internet sharing and allows you to use the Internet capabilities of the phone on your laptop.

Instructions

1. Turn on your laptop and boot up your Samsung Omnia.

2. Connect your Samsung Omnia to your laptop using the USB cable that came with it.

3. Click "Internet Sharing" on the Samsung Omnia main menu.

4. Change the PC Connection to "USB."

5. Click "Connect" to begin using your Samsung Omnia as a laptop modem.

6. When you are done, click "Disconnect" and remove the USB cable from your laptop.

Tips & Warnings

• Your laptop may need certain device drivers to use the Samsung as a laptop modem. If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, these drivers will likely install automatically. If they don't or you have an older version of Windows, you may receive a message telling you to go to the Samsung website and download the drivers manually.

• Using your Samsung Omnia as a laptop modem can get expensive. Your mobile service provider will charge you as if you are using the Internet on your phone. Check with your mobile service provider for more information.
