How to Make Dragonfly Earrings
Many cultures hold the dragonfly in high regard. Universally, they represent good fortune, luck, joy and renewal. Because they change from dull-looking larvae to delicate, beautiful creatures, some cultures also see them as a positive symbol of maturity and positive changes. The Japanese believe they mean prosperity, harmony and strength. Paired dragonflies are supposed to represent love and everlasting happiness.
Dragonflies also serve as popular designs for girls' clothing and jewelry. They show up on T-shirts, shoes, socks, necklaces and earrings. Create your own original and inexpensive dragonfly earrings at home.

1
Arrange your materials on a large piece of felt. This prevents your beads and findings from sliding from your work surface. Pick small glass beads that match your wings' metal tones; warm colors go best with gold or copper while cool colors pair well with silver. Match your seed beads to your wings.

2
Line up the beads to one of your earrings, ordering them how you want them to look on the earring. Use a seed bead first, followed by a glass bead for the head then a wing bead. Line up four or five glass beads below the wings, ending with a metal seed bead.

Snip about three inches of craft wire. Slip one end into the loop at the bottom of an earring hook. Bend the wire around the hook loop into a loop of its own. Twist the short tail of the wire around the longer piece so the craft wire loop is closed.

4
Slide the beads you lined up onto the craft wire, starting with the metal seed bead and glass bead for the head. End with the second seed bead and finish by twisting part of the extra wire into a very small loop against the bottom seed bead. Snip off any extra wire.

5
Repeat steps 2 through 4 to create the second earring.
