How to Create a Lightroom Gallery for Voting
Lightroom can be an invaluable tool for photographers. One of the software's most appealing features is the ability to quickly and easily create web galleries. In just a few short moments you can have an entire gallery ready to be uploaded to your website or blog. Adding a section for voting afterwards can vary depending on your website or blogging platform. Knowledge of general HTML is necessary in most situations.

1
Open Lightroom and find the photos you want to add to your gallery. You may have to import your photos to Lightoom if they are not already in the Lightroom catalog. You accomplish this by clicking "Import" and choose your import source. Once you've chosen your photos click "Open" and a new pop up window will appear. Click "Import". You newly imported photos will now be visible as thumbnails in your main window, located in the center of the program screen.

2
If you need to add more photos to your gallery, click the small circles in the upper right hand of each thumbnail shot in your main window. This will add these photos to your quick collection for faster access later. Now click Import and find the remaining photos. Again click the circles in the thumbnails once they are opened to also add these to your quick collection.

3
Choose "Quick Collection" in the left side menu and your chosen photos will now be displayed in your main window. If you did not use the quick collection method, be sure the photos you want in your gallery are present in your main window.

4
On the upper right hand of the program screen you will see the options Library/Develop/Slideshow/Print/Web. Click "Web". On the left side of your screen you will now see templates for your gallery. Choose a basic HTML template, such as "Charcoal," where the photos are separated by dividers.
-
5
On the right hand side you have many options for customizing your gallery. The "Labels" allows you to add gallery, photographer and website information, if desired. Use the "Color Palette" and "Appearance" section to customize the look of your gallery. Under "Appearance" be sure the box marked "Show Cell Numbers" is checked. You will now see numbers next to each photo, which will help with the voting process.
-
6
When satisfied with the look of your gallery, click export or upload, depending on how you plan to install your gallery on your website or blog.
-
7
Once installed, there are different ways to add your voting area. Many blogging platforms have polling widgets ready to install in a single click (such as Blogger and Wordpress). If not using one of these widgets, you may use a free online service, such as PollDaddy, to add the voting buttons to your gallery. Another less technical option would be to have your readers leave a comment or send an email placing their vote.
