How to Fix Faded Heels on Boots
Boots were made for walking. However, over time even the hardiest leather or suede boots can fade, especially around the heels. You don't have to toss your favorite pair of boots just because they become a little worn. You can restore life to your old boots by putting the color back into those faded heels. Specially-engineered dyes are designed specifically for this purpose, and they can be applied often with great results. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Clean the faded areas of each boot thoroughly with the leather or suede cleaner and the washcloth or toothbrush. Dye will not adhere properly to a dirty area, so scrub the area vigorously to remove any dirt that may be on the boots. Dry the boots thoroughly before dyeing them.

2
Apply the edge dressing to the faded areas on the heels of the boots. The dressing should have an applicator to make this much easier, but if not, use a sponge to apply the dye carefully.

3
Set the boots on the newspaper to allow the dye to dry thoroughly. This will keep them from staining a rug or furnishings. The color should blend evenly with the other parts of the boots.
-
4
Apply the leather or suede protector to the boots according to the manufacturer's directions. This will preserve the color and prevent, at least temporarily, further fading of the boots.

Tips & Warnings
Because the edge dressing stains easily, you may also want to wear gloves when applying it.
If you find that the boots are damaged beyond just the faded color, it is best to have them taken to a professional boot repair service.
