How to Remove a Tension Set Nose Ring
Tension-style nose rings can be a challenge to remove because the shape of the ring itself is what holds the ball in place. Prying the actual nose ring apart is often necessary to removing the ball so you can slide the nose ring out of your piercing. The challenge arises in getting a good handle on your nose ring because often your nose gets in the way. Wash your hands with soap and warm water before handling your nose ring.

Turn your nose ring in your nose so you can easily see and touch the ball holding the nose ring in place.

Hold your nostril away from your nose at an angle that allows you to easily work with the nose ring. This may take some experimentation, as everyone's comfort zone will be different. Newly pierced noses may be sensitive, so be careful not to pull too hard or create too much pressure or you could tear or irritate the pierced area.

Insert the closed pliers above the ball and open them far enough to pry the ring apart.

Remove the ball while the pliers are holding your nose ring apart.

Slide the nose ring carefully out of the pierced area and clean the area with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab before inserting a new ring.
